Extract from Rainbow Trust’s very first newsletter, written in 1987

Dear Supporter 

I trust you are well and happy. I am pleased to be able to take this opportunity to update you on the progress of Rainbow Trust. 

As you probably know we acquired charity status in September ‘86. Since then various fundraising events have been organised by many different people. One lady made marmalade to sell to friends whilst another organised a rainbow bazaar. Not only do these events bring us much needed funds but many new friends. 

On 1 December ’87 we opened an office near Trafalgar Square, it is part of the office suite of one of our Trustees and it is from here that the wheels of Rainbow Trust now turn. 

At the moment we are busy looking for a suitable property for Rainbow House. We are also looking for staff. 

1988 is the year for us to fulfil the plans… and to build our strong foundations. I would like to ask you to tell your friends about Rainbow Trust and to encourage them to support our work.  

I think this just about rounds up all the news. It just leaves me to say a very heartfelt thank you to you all for bringing us this far.
